Like a Child

Inner Child

Do you believe that you can drop a piano on someone and they will turn into an accordian? Do you believe that Superman can really fly, or that dogs can talk? What about, do you believe that you can walk on water or see a leper healed? No… Well I guarantee you that if you have children they believe these things without ever even thinking twice about it. There is something beautiful about that innocence that little children have, and they believe anything. Daddys, if you tell your little one that you are going to take them to the park they believe you. Mommys, if you tell them that you are going to make their favorite dessert they believe you. The thought never crosses their minds that we are humans and might not be able to hold up to what we said, they just take us at face value and run with it. Can I tell you that we have a Father that is not human and lives outside of the realms of Earth and He will never go back on anything He says! Hallelujah!!!

Matthew 18:2-3 says:

Mat 18:2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,
Mat 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

We look at what Jesus said here and He was pretty clear on the fact that you must be converted. That word “converted” comes from the Greek word “strepho” which means:
to twist, that is, turn quite around or reverse (literally or figuratively): – convert, turn (again, back again, self, self about).

Let’s make this very clear, Jesus is not saying that you are to give up all responsibilities of being an adult. He is however saying though that your heart, thoughts, speech and faith must be reverted, or turned back, to Him as a child. Why, you ask. Well let’s take a look at a few different scriptures for the answer.

Acts 28:27
Act 28:27 These people’s hearts have become stubborn.
They can barely hear with their ears.
They have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes.
They might hear with their ears.
They might understand with their hearts.
They might turn, and then I would heal them.

Acts says, our hearts have “become” stubborn and our ears and eyes don’t hear or see. So that tells us that it was not in that poor shape to begin with, we were in communion with God!

Matthew 15:19
Mat 15:19 Evil thoughts come out of the heart. So do murder, adultery, and other sexual sins. And so do stealing, false witness, and telling lies about others.

Here we can see that our mind and thoughts are effected by our hearts, that it is the breeding grounds for evil thoughts.

Matthew 14:31
Mat 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Matthew says Jesus immediately stretched forth His hand and caught him ,Peter, when he called on His name. Jesus then rebukes him for not having the faith needed. But, we see that it is through Jesus that it is obtainable. Glory!

James 3:6
Jas 3:6 The tongue also is a fire. The tongue is the most evil part of the body. It pollutes the whole person. It sets a person’s whole way of life on fire. And the tongue is set on fire by hell.

And the tongue. Scripture pretty much says it all here, there is not much I can say that it doesn’t. But how scary is that, our tongues are set on fire by hell, hell owns our tongues unless we are converted and become as little children!

The Conversion

So How does this conversion take place? Well that is fairly simple.

You Must Be Born Again!!!

John 3:3 tells us:
Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Being born again is as easy as believing that Jesus came and died ressurected and ascended on high to the right hand of the Father, accepting Him into your heart as your Lord and Savior, and professing Him in front of man.

Now when that is done the conversion has taken place!

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 tells us:

2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
2Co 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Child like life

Folks, this child like life is amazing! When you are living for God and you have been converted as a child things begin to happen. Everything that we ask God has to be in complete and total faith, for it is impossible to please God without faith, which leads me back to what I was saying to begin with. A child just believes they don’t ask qustions they don’t wonder why or how they just know. Their hearts are pure they don’t know evil like us adults do. They also have such a pure speech that is almost angelic. This is what Jesus was referring to when He said unless you be converted and become as little children. You see little children have yet to sin, therefore they are more pure at heart than adults and this is why we must be born again “into the Kingdom of God” and become as a child, so we can come back into communion with The Almighty. Ever said, “I wish I could go back and be a child again!”? Well, this is your chance. You have the opportunity to go back to that pureness, innocence, truthfullness, and loving kindness of a child, and begin to see God move in your life here on this earth, and inherit eternal life!

I encourage you by The Spirit of God, accept Jesus into your life, turn every avenue over to Him and begin living a brand new child like life in The Lord.

If you don’t know Him as your personal Lord and Savior, ask Him into your life and believe that He gave His life for you.

If you already know Him but you have kinda slid away from being a child ask Him to help you with this, He will the Bible says ask and you shall receive. Pray this prayer and mean it with all your heart:
God, I know that you told me unless I be converted and become as a little child I will not enter the Kingdom. Father, I realize that I have slid away from this and I ask that you forgive me and help me. Give me the ability to have faith in you like a child again, give me the heart and mind of a child, and Father give me the unconditional love of a child. God, I thank you for this and give you all the glory in Jesus Holy Name, Amen.
